Zanimljiv post od strane tvorca cataclysme
So guys... in a moment of weakness i've bought a Nexus 5X and no longer have a Nexus 5.
Please don't freak out, nothing will change and i'll keep supporting it. The new way i'm handling the updates is solid so there won't be any problem.
I'm using the N5X since two days, pure stock without even Cataclysm to figure out what's new and to properly review it.
I've read only enthusiastic reviews of it and while i'm an huge Nexus fanboy myself all i can say is.. it's an huge disappointment.
Should you upgrade from N5 to N5X, short answer is Hello no!
Long answer:
Nexus 5X review:
First of all it comes with same internal storage and same ram as N5.
While at first it's a disappointment itself, ram and storage per-se are the same as N5 so what's the problem?
Well the problem is, probably cause the new x64 architecture it uses way more ram and way more storage.
While system ram was like 300-400mb on N5 on N5X is double, internal storage takes roughly 2gb more.
It's slippery as hell, not sure if it's cause it's the white version and can't compare with Nexus 5 white as i owned a black one but it's really slippery.
It's long, way too long, probably cause frontal speaker[STRIKE]s[/STRIKE], but seriously, it looks like a remote control.
Edges are way to upraised, more then N5, so be ready for all the dirty there.
Vibration is unusable, had to disable it everywhere. You know, you use vibration cause it's silent and as a feedback.
Well on N5X, at least mine, it does make a sound, an huge bzzz BZZZZZZZ, and i mean HUGE.
You can probably ear more that buzz while on a meeting then a ringer tone at a lowest level.
Power button is lousy as first N5 generation, zero improvements, is even worse as not ceramic made but just plastic.
Battery is outrageous, i could reach easily 4 hours sot with a two years old battery beated to death with continuous development involving constant reboots/backups,being plugged whole time.
I can't reach 4 hours with N5X with same setup.
Cpu sux, and i mean it. stuttering and lags everywhere. That 808 really is the worse cpu around.
I can't say anything on the raw performance as in games and such but for daily use, N5 performs vastly better
What about new features not included in N5.
Ok Google always on is very very nice and fingerprint is awesome. But here's the problem...
You can't freaking have both, so upon two new features you have to give up on one... Let me explain why.
If you use fingerprint, so you phone is locked, there's no point using Ok Google while phone is away/screen off to check stuff cause you have to actually unlock it.
Yes there's smart lock but at least in my country trusted voice is not working.
So to take full advantage of ok google while screen is off you have to disable secure lockscreen.
It's nice while you're in bed and asking for weather while phone is away from you but as i said you have to disable fingerprint.
Another sux point is that if you disable fingerprint, so you can use ok google on screen off, phone won't turn on if you touch the reader.
Would've been nice to turn on the screen by touching the fingerprint sensor even if a fingerprint is not attached to it, to save that lousy power button.
I hope i can fix this.
Camera seems nice, so is the led, even if it's less true rgb then N5, no way to have orange or purple color, they will stay yellow and magenta.
Sorry for this OT but i hope these informations can help you if you were somehow unsure to upgrade or not.
edit: Phone was not encrypted during my observations.
