- Click on the "SYSTEM UPDATE" and press Start + Select at the same time, it will automatically install the custom firmware you placed on the USB stick.
Step 3:
Your console should have restarted after the update and you'll notice under "Game" section that you have two new options, "* /app_home/PS3_GAME/" and "*Install Package Files" let me briefly explain what these options do. The * /app_home/PS3_GAME/ is a redirection of a bluray disc, so when you load up a game via the Backup Manager without a disc inside the console and hover over the * /app_home/PS3_GAME/ you will see the game and be able to load it (Not every game supports disc-less booting) and the * Install Package Files will install those unsigned or signed .pkg files e.g. Backup Manager, lv2 patch, Emulators, etc.
We will now install a FTP server which will be the application you use to transfer games over from your PC to your PS3's hard drive, first download THIS application which is Blackbox FTP Server 1.2, you will need to do the following:
- Take your external USB device, unzip the rar on the ROOT of the drive so that blackbox.pkg is on it.
- Plug your external USB device into your PS3, go to "Game > * Install Package Files" and clicking on it should bring up the pkg you put on your USB drive.
- Click X on the PKG and install, it should now appear on your XMB under "Game" ready for you to launch.
We now want to take the same steps above but this time, installing your Backup Manager instead, which is the program that loads ALL the games that are downloaded from TorrentLeech.org and other websites, download the Backup manager from HERE and take the steps installing it as you did with your FTP server, this backup manager includes lv2 syscalls, no more need for the lv2.pkg.
Step 4:
So you now have all the tools, patches, firmware ready to start running your backups / downloads, you will firstly need to start up your FTP server on your PS3, it is a good time to connect your console through wired (don't need to have the internet running, just PS3 > PC) and to upload your games you will need to do the following:
- Open up FlashFXP or any other FTP client you have on your PC.
- Connect to the IP address that the PS3 is connected too (Upon opening Blackbox FTP server, it will say your Ip address in the middle).
- Navigate through the PS3's hard drive to "dev_hdd0/GAMEZ/" this is where you will place your backups, you may have to create this folder if it's your first time.
- You will be uploading the TITLEID folder to dev_hdd0/GAMEZ/ so e.g. dev_hdd0/GAMEZ/BCES00569 which would be Gran Turismo 5.
- Congrats! You have now backed up your first game.
Step 5:
So you now have a game uploaded which your Backup Manager will automatically detect, you firstly want to run the LV2.pkg which you installed, which on your XMB will say "lv2 patcher" and have a image of omg omg omg lv patcher, this will launch and direct you to a white screen telling you "Success" and pressing X to exit, do this.
You have now patched your console with the syscalls necessary to run the backup you uploaded. Now load up your Backup Manager, you might have to agree to a few notices but that is all good. You will now see your game listed in the Backup Manager, just hover over it and press X to launch it. You will be thrown back to the XMB and notice that if you HAVE a blu-ray game in, it will be replaced with the game you launched from Backup Manager, if you DONT have a blu-ray game in the console, you will have to scroll over "* /app_home/PS3_GAME/" which if you press X on, will load your game (Note that disc-less mode supports less games than having a disc in the console.)
Congratulations you are now jailbroken, have peek/poke and lv2 patched, backup manager running and game backups working, enjoy!
NOTE:
If your games are blackscreening, use THIS pkg to fix permissions everytime you upload a new game.
- Upload 3 games
- Run fix permissions
- Upload 1 more game
- Run fix permissions
- Upload 24 games
- Run fix permissions
You only need to use the fix permissions everytime you upload a game or several, it doesn't need to be ran everytime you boot your console.
