Da, to sam hteo da komentarisem, da Pascal grafike ipak imaju nekim odedjeni boost kada se ukljuce AS ( za razliku od Maxvell kartica, koje jos i gube na snazi )....
Bas sam sinoc citao, NV je u Pascal kartama, odradila dodatnu optimizacija i sada te kartice rade putem odredjenih procesa ( da se izrazim, onako laicki :trust, neku vrstu paralelne obrade tih draw calls podataka ( koliko sam shvatio, sustina tih AS je i ta neka 'paralelna' , sinhronizovana obrada raznih grafickih informacija ) i zbog toga 1070 i 1080 imaju odredjeni boost sa AS, dok 970, 980 i 980Ti nemaju porast perfomansi ( sto se vidi i u testovima )...
To nVidia zove "optimizacija drajvera". Da oni imaju Async kako treba, to bi reklamirali na sva usta a ne da se ovako nagadjamo. Nista cudno od njih.
3DMark Time Spy, DX12 test koji proverava performanse sa ukljucenim asinhronim sejderima radi na nacin na koji ne radi nijedna igra koja koristi asihnrone sejdere, samim tim je neadekvatan alat za merenje DX12/AS performansi jer se rezultati nece reflektovati u igrama.
U prevodu nVidija podmazala Futuremark da izbace benchmark alat za DX12 koji ce pokazati da i njihov hardver podrzava AS iako to zapravo nije tacno. Prodaju muda za bubrege, ponovo...

Pa sve vreme pricamo da je Pascal die-shrink Maxwella i samo "test" novog proizvodnog procesa. Nije ga ni bilo na road mapu pre par godina. Mozes da se kladis da ce Volta imati Async kako treba. Ovo je tipican nVidia potez, uvek su oni u proslosti u ovakvim situacijama pribegavali "trikovima". Procenjeno je da za sada moze i ovako, za dve godine moze da bude druga prica a tada ce imati odgovarajucu ponudu. Skoro da ne pamtim nVidia kartu koja je bila "kompletna", Fermi 580 je bio poslednji koji je imao i performanse, i DP i OK potrosnju. Iz Keplera izbacise DP, Maxwell i 3.5 GB je stara prica, sad Pascal nema Async kako bi trebalo... Ali su performanse tu, prodaja ide odlicno... Kupcima ocigledno ne smeta, prema tome...

It was not tailored for any specific architecture. It overlaps different rendering passes for asynchronous compute, in paraller when possible. Drivers determine how they process these - multiple paraller queues are filled by the engine.
The reason Maxwell doesn't take a hit is because NVIDIA has explictly disabled async compute in Maxwell drivers. So no matter how much we pile things to the queues, they cannot be set to run asynchronously because the driver says "no, I can't do that". Basically NV driver tells Time Spy to go "async off" for the run on that card. NV driver runs asynchronous tasks in one queue on Maxwell, similar to if they were submitted in one queue ("async off" in Time Spy). If NVIDIA enables Async Compute in the drivers on Maxwell, Time Spy will start using it. Performance gain or loss depends on the hardware & drivers.

Asynchronous Compute
With DirectX 11, all rendering work is executed in one queue with the driver deciding the order of the tasks.
With DirectX 12, GPUs that support asynchronous compute can process work from multiple queues in parallel.
There are three types of queue: 3D, compute, and copy. A 3D queue executes rendering commands and can also handle other work types. A compute queue can handle compute and copy work. A copy queue only accepts copy operations. The queues all race for the same resources so the overall benefit depends on the workload.
In Time Spy, asynchronous compute is used heavily to overlap rendering passes to maximize GPU utilization. The asynchronous compute workload per frame varies between 10 - 20%.
To observe the benefit on your own hardware, you can optionally choose to disable async compute using the Custom run settings.
