We had a few confusing statements regarding the differences between the American and the European versions of Gothic 3. Here is the last one by JoWooD's Johann Ertl, clearing it up:

After phoning around for hours, I`m a little bit better informed and I can tell you these details:
1. The US Version will come a month later than the UK / German one, so they will have all the improvements inside that will be brought here in the patch that will be released at the same time as the game.
2. There will be minor changes (Intro movie *, Credits...) but nothing will change in gameplay, interface, enemy strenght...
3. The balancing may seem easier, but just because of the fact that the patching changes are already included - so the balancing will be changed in the Euro Version by the patch in exactly the same way.
4. So there is no american-styled Gothic Version, there is only the true Gothic for all of us world wide.
Please update any information that was given wrong - my error.
*) This was the reason for my misunderstanding. Someone was talking about "making the introduction easier to understand", and I understood that wrong, thinking, that the game itself will be easier...
