Hey guys,
First I'll give credit to Fabien and Djey from TDU2.fr.
They're great guys and have many good connections! Fabien exclusively attended a conference regarding TDU2 and our infamous Lee Kirton was there too! I translated parts of his text (original version here).
-Garage had an aquarium in it, in the background. He says the blue color of the TT is metalized, which makes him realize how much effort was put in the détails of the car. He confirms that you can clearly walk around your car, just like an FPS, but without seeing your hands. A special attention was paid to textures (leather, stitches, alcantra). He says he has never seen such a level of detail! (Subjective, I know, but nevertheless)
-Upon taking the car out, the island really feels like Ibiza, hot and dry! And the roads, which he was afraid of, were perfectly smooth. No more bumps!
-Skies are orange at dawn, just like real life. The whole “tint” changes
-The shadow of the car follows the position of the sun, just like we saw in the trailer with the buildings!
-When night falls, the lights in the houses start to light up. Nadal says traffic density will depend on the hour of the day (more fluid in the night).
-The day/night cycle and weather changes are the same for every player on the servers, which sounds logical (yet reassuring).
-In a thunderstorm (there are lightnings), the whole ambiance changes. You have the ability to put on and remove the roof of your convertible car. It’s not automatic!
-Physics have been completely reworked. Every car handles in a unique manner. For example a Mustang is completely different from a TT. Once again, the car doesn’t jump anymore on bumps, etc. He didn’t get to play the game, but he says the grip of the cars feels more realistic. **Something tells me the trailer's physics aren't representative!!**
-Crashes : only slight scratches, with minor deformations to the car’s body. At some point, the doors even open! They didn’t allow him to see any more damage (which makes me think there might be more). As we know, no influence on the car’s handling.
-ROLLOVERS are possible! Brakes glow red, like we saw.
-Clean and careful driving will be rewarded with money (a gauge on your screen) that will end up in your account!
-Draw distance is definitely longer than TDU1. You can see the roads on the other hill, and they’re the real roads, not some drawings.
-Clubs are easy to create and FULLY customizable : from HEAD TO TOE, even the wall colors and ceramic, etc. The more your club gains popularity, the more you have privileges, like exclusive cars! Their goal is to make you really long after those exclusive cars, knowing they’re difficult to obtain.
-Online is improved : you won’t get disconnected from your friends anymore. You create your own cruise and your friends can join you.
-You can walk around your house in first person, like an FPS, but without your hands. You can also interact with others with body language. You can also go in the Jacuzzi with a person (or more) you choose.
-You can create your own races, with starting and finish point, just like TDU1
-Another article (by Fabien) to come concerning online interactions, networking.
-Back to the house, Fabien sees other cars and, once again, is in awe (textures, details)
-Vinyls are available, in many shapes and forms, and you can put as much as you want! (personnal note : "unfortunately")
-Hawaii is revamped, and roads are much smoother too. Original roads are included, PLUS off-road paths.
-Concludes by saying he says he’s really impressed with the beauty of the game. The wait is worth it! He will get to play it soon
