Guerilla: Killzone 3 “pushes 100%” of PS3’s max SPU load
Guerilla Games’ managing director Hermen Hulst has told VG247 that the studio is “going way overboard” for Killzone 3, using “100 percent” of PS3’s processing capabilities.Speaking with Patrick Garratt at the game’s formal reveal in Amsterdam earlier this month, Hulst said the game was “pushing” 100 percent in terms of SPU load. Killzone 2 used around 60 percent, as famously claimed by ex-IGN writer Jeff Haynes in a podcast before the release of the prequel last February.“But I think we’re pushing 100 percent right now,” said Hulst. “You see there’s steam coming out of the machine, almost.“All the stuff that we’re squeezing. It’s got everything to do with the scale and the environments and the action that you’re seeing on the screen right now. As I was talking about earlier in the presentation, we’re having a footprint of a level that’s ten times bigger than the average Killzone 2 level. Killzone 2 was not a small game, but that was as far as we could push it back then.”He added: “We’re going way overboard this time around, and I think we’re reaching the kind of maximum that we can do. SCEE explains why Killzone 3’s debut wasn’t saved for E3
Killzone 3 was officially announced yesterday, a few days after it was revealed in the latest issue of GamePro. Many fans wondered why Sony wasn’t saving the unveiling for the biggest convention of the year next month, E3. James Gallagher, the Content Producer of SCEE, explained why in the comments section of the Playstation.Blog:
Our PR team will have their reasons – we have a lot of games in the pipeline and it’s logistically easier to space them out a bit, I suppose. Plus, it makes sure they get some good media coverage before the information avalanche of E3.
Killzone 3 is slated for a 2011 release. You can view the first direct-feed screens from the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive in the slideshow below:

Guerrilla Games' Steven Ter Heide has told a relieved Eurogamer that swearing has been curtailed for Killzone 3.

Not completely, but the contrast to Killzone 2 will be dramatic.

"Yes!" blurted Ter Heide when asked if there will be less potty-mouthed antics in Killzone 3. "Our sound director is here today and we said to him, 'Go through the entire database and, anything that's got s*** or f*** in it, just get rid of it - we don't want to hear it ever again!"

Ter Heide went on to explain that Killzone 3 was still "firmly aiming" to be an 18-rated game.

"Yes, definitely. That's a lot to do with the violence and things like the brutal melee system. We're firmly aiming for an 18," he said.

"But we feel the dialogue in there shouldn't be gratuitous; it should be about advancing the story and natural responses. It shouldn't be off-the-scale swearing."

Killzone 3 release date - May 2011
Sony has internally set a release date for Killzone 3 of May 2011, CVG has learnt.

A source close to the platform holder's European HQ sneaked the news to CVG this morning.

They also reaffirmed that the title will be compatible with PlayStation Move - and revealed that the game will feature more than one online co-op mode.

"Guerilla is working on a standard two-player, co-op - as you'd expect - but there's also an objective-based separate four-player co-op mode in the works, too," said our source.

"I've also been told that there will be vehicles in the online multiplayer - but I haven't seen that for myself yet."

We were told earlier this year that Killzone 3 would feature Stereoscopic 3D gameplay - something Sony finally confirmed yesterday.

Killzone 3 details spilled out onto the 'net over the weekend.

It will feature jetpacks with guns on them - as well as jungle and snowy levels. Sony released some screens yesterday, which you can see dotted around this very page.

CVG's crystal ball is performing pretty well this week: Microsoft yesterday got round to confirming a September 14th UK release date for Halo Reach, which we told you back in March.

Sony has said that it hasn't set a release date for the game - but will still announce one in "due course".

We expect them to say the words 'spring 2011' at E3.


Ja ne znam kako ce GG da se izbori sa svim ovim izazovima, novim za njih, co-op, 3D, vozila, ludilo od grafike!
Drzim im palceve i na rukama i na nogama. Mogao bi SOny da zovne DICE na kafu u GG da im malo pomognu oko vozila. :)

- Co-op se lako pravi ako su misije prilagodjene tome(KZ2 je bez problema mogao da ima co-op)
- 3d .. pa videcemo, to je ionako samo icing
- vozila ... za ovo ne brinem, ono sto smo imali u KZ2 je dobro funkcionisalo
- grafika ... oko ovoga tek ne treba brinuti

E muka mi je od ovih 100% izjava, majke mi.. :)
 
Evo malo sam se izlozio najavama KZ3 pa reko daj opet da probam KZ2 SP. Kao prvo ne verujem da ste imali zivaca da igrate ovo ne Elite, evo i na hard od sredine postaje zayebano.
Ja ne verujem sta su oni uradili od ove igre sa ovako ocajnim kontrolama !! Sta god da su hteli da simuliraju totalni je fail, alo bre pa kako da nekog nasinanis ko covek kad se puska nikad sporije i nepreciznije pomera!! Posle BC2 KZ2 kontrole su katastrofa !!
Grafika za U2, GoW3 je smesna, texture su toliko low res, pa MP mi je bolje izgledao, neke mape.
Ne mogu da shvatim zasto je ova igra dizana u nebesa!! Aj MP ok, ali SP je shit bre! Ragnarok prica o fantasticnom AI-u, a dal je to do AI-a ili do ocajnih kontrola ?! Daj mi kontrole iz BC2 pa Helgani bi bezali ko misevi.
Treba li spominjati opet da je hitbox nikakav, pucam mu u glavu nece da umre ? :D Da ne pricam kako treba istresti ceo sanzer da bi pao ? Realno zar ne ? :)
Mislim da necu ni poruciti KZ3 dok ne vidim da su se vratili u FPS normale, a ne da pokusavaju da urade nesto novo sa ocajnim kontrolama!
Naravno to je i "loading" ekran i seckanje FPSa svakih 30sek, strasno nedovrsena igra!!
Realno da joj sad daju review-ove dobila bi prosek max 7/10 !

oce to kad naucis da uzmes m60 i ne pustas R1 a ljudi ispred tebe samo padaju.

sto se tice hit box-a u bc2, o tome tek da ne pricam. svi me cuju kad psujem preko sluske sto neko nece da padne a siguran sam da sam ga ispogadjao. ono sto ne cujete je kad nekog ubijem (tad se ne nerviram :D), pritom bude jos headshot, a opet siguran sam da sam pucao pored lika.
