"Mantle for now is straight up in a closed ecosystem, a closed beta, which you have to do in a complicated project like this to get it off the ground. It's us and a few key game developers," Robert Hallock, technical communications, AMD Graphics & Gaming, told us in a recent interview.
"After that phase is done, we do hope that Mantle becomes an industry standard. We'll be releasing a public SDK later this year, and hope that others adopt it. If they don't adopt it itself, then we hope they adopt APIs similar to it that become an industry standard for PC gaming."

OGL je u senci jer je čista alternativa DX'u koju niko ne gura, nije ni pokušano da se uradi nešto drugačije kao što je ovaj Mantle.

v3 se poredio sa tnt, ge force 256 se poredio sa v5. ni sad ne možeš da porediš gxt 780 sa radeonom 7850.Imao sam i voodoo3 i gf256 u istoj masini. gf256 je razbijao v3.
U vezi Mantle-a... super je sto su ga smislili, ali moraju da ga jos otvore. Ovako nece uspeti. Posao oko pisanja igara koje koriste Mantle je djavolski nezgodan, jer su prebacili posao oko pisanja drivera na programere igara. Nece svako moci da iskoristi Mantle.
OGL moze donekle da radi u "mantle" modu, koriscenjem nekoliko extenzija koje omogucavaju da se u buffere pakuju razne stvari koje ce GPU kasnije da obradi.
