In development since 2003, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is an upcoming online action role-playing game based on the Conan the Cimmerian stories written by Robert E. Howard in the early 1930s. The game is being developed for the PC and the Xbox 360 by Funcom, the creators of the science fiction MMORPG Anarchy Online and the adventure game The Longest Journey. While the game appears to be a semi-traditional (Only semi because some of the ways the game actually work, for example it does not have the traditional "click and hotkey" combat system or general exploration system) MMORPG, Funcom prefers using the term "online action RPG" instead.

When first entering the world of Hyboria, the game is divided into two sections: In the first section you can choose if you want to play alone or with other players. At night, the game is a single-player-experience, while at day it is a multiplayer-experience. Switching between the two is done by sleeping in an inn. This whole first part is done on an island called Tortage. When you reach level 20, you are allowed to leave the island and thus the second section takes the character created during the first portion to a whole new environment. The online world promises to be dynamic, as players may form guilds (player organizations), conquer territories and erect cities which are vulnerable to attacks by humanoid NPCs.

Originally the Tortage-part was going to be a full single-player-experience, but that has now been changed.

One of the primary attractions of Age of Conan is the "Real Combat" system, which promises greater player interaction during combat than previously seen in online role-playing games. The player is able to direct the swings of their character's weapon during combat to attack six separate target zones. Funcom has stated that this system will be easy to learn even for veteran MMORPG players who are used to "click and wait" combat; however, the specific details of this system have yet to be unveiled. In order to utilize the combat mechanics, the player will use 5 keys; 1, 2, 3, Q, and E. Other features will include battle formations, which impart bonuses to the group using them, and mounted combat, which will also use the "Real Combat" engine.

Funcom is focusing on developing content for the "end game," the time at which characters have reached maximum advancement, rather than the "grind" and promises a fast leveling process. Funcom has also promised the graphic nature of Robert E. Howard's short stories will not be toned down for the game and that they expect Age of Conan to receive an ESRB rating of Mature due to its content.

Detalji o Single Player modu:
The first 20 levels of the game are a single player. They are creating a full-fledged stand-alone game that gives you a story-driven role-playing experience where the focus is on you, your character, and your journey. There are four different arcs of the story - one per core class - Rogue, Mage, Priest and Warrior. It is a traditional RPG with a lot of freedom in character development and movement, but where certain events are pre-ordained.

Since the characters entering our realm will meet other honest players, it is important to as much as possible limit cheating and exploits. For this reason they have decided to host the first 20 levels in an online environment. Although you play on their servers, you will play the single-player game as if it was offline, without any additional costs other than when you bought the game.

The degree to which you will be completely alone will also vary. You start completely alone, but in some locations you can theoretically meet other players - to enhance the experience and importance of what you do.

Everyone "comes to life" as a slave. Everyone has strange, disturbing, marks on their chests. In the bowels of a slave ship, you select your race and looks among the rowers. Everyone will as much recreate who they were, as make a new life. Everyone will participate in tracking down the evil force behind it all.

After having your shackles torn lose when your slave ship gets rammed by a another galley, in the midst of a massive storm, you will swing the chains and smash the brains out of your tormentors, before you dive to the waters, escaping the sinking slave vessel. The next day, you find yourself on the beautiful beach, a rosy morning where the deep jungle stretches before you. You are somewhere on the Barrachan isles, and your true adventure begins.

You will then fight your way through the jungle. Battling monstrous apes, forlorn Picts and even darker beings. Finally, you will stumble through the gates of the freebooter village of Tortage. Then you will have gained some levels of experience, and will be ready to select your class at level five.

And at level twenty you will be able to enter the multi-player world. After that, your story continues. This means that, even though you enter the multiplayer universe, you will, at some time, return to the world you left behind, seek out certain key characters, and need to participate in story-driven activities. Conan will definitely be part of this story arc. This story will not develop except during expansions and content updates.
 
Kako su poceli pitanje je kada ce izaci i da li ce izaci i na sta ce to liciti. Deluje kao da su zagrizli previse. U svakom slucaju ja se prijavih za betu poodavno pa cemi videti na sta to lici.

da li sam dobro razumeo- i kad budes igrao u single player modu ti prvih 20l moras biti online i na serveru?
 
znam samo da ne mogu svi biti Konani, stoga posle singleplayer kampanje verovatno pravis novog lika za on-line igranje...
 
Cekaj ... da igram a da ne budem Konan ,) nece moci ... :d

Mozda tebi dzaba, ali sigurno ima mnoogo ljudi koji bi platili da igraju online.
Mene nije ni sad zao platiti 12 evra za WoW mesecno. MMORPG igre su droga ako su dobre i ako imaju dobar community.
 
Pa ako bude stvarno dobro platicu, jer sta je jos 1000 din na sve ostale troskove ionako placam 1400din za adsl koji koristim samo za surf i Guild Wars. Vec dve godine igram Guils Wars i igra super funkcionise bez mesecne pretplate tako da je to ocigledno modus koji moze veoma profitabilno da funkcionise tako da se nadam da ce sve vise MMORPG-ova slediti taj primer, pogotovo ako se uzme u obzir da ce i Guild Wars dva biti bez mesecne pretplate. Sto se Conan-a tice koliko sam nesto video pretplata bi trebala da bude 12$ i nadam se da ce to prevesti u evre kako treba a ne samo preslikati brojku. Iskreno se nadam da ce AoC odgovarati i casual igracima a ne samo hard core freak geak-ovima. Do sada sam igrao skoro sve vece mmorpg-ove, vecinu u beta fazi i nijedan me nije toliko zaintrigirao da nastavim kasnije sa igranjem, najinteresantniji je bio Dungeons&Dragons Online, mislim da ce AoC biti najzad nesto kvalitetno.
 
A da nadam se da ce ipak nekako da se postuje ono ogranicenje za 18+ u godinama (mada znam da je to nemoguce) ali bi bilo lepo, eh...
 
Znači ipak je bio u pravu onaj lik što je otvorio kliniku za lečenje od "Warcrafta™":(

Pazi imas raznih ljudi. Na primer, ja igram casual, dva meseca igram, tri ne i tako :D Ne zbog para nego jednostavno imam obaveza i nemam vremena previse da se bakcem sa WoW-om. Naravno imas i ljudi koji igraju kao pomahnitali 12 sati dnevno, 30 dana u mesecu :( Uvek ce postojati ljudi koji preteruju u necemu, posebno ako to donosi veliko uzivanje.

Sta bre 12 sati imam drugara kome je rekord 17 sati ima 3 ili 4 lika na 70 nivou i jos dvadestak od kojih ni jedan nije ispod 30-tog. Ugojio se nevidjeno za to vreme. Lik drzi teretanu soba u kojoj zivi odma pored pa ne mora ni da ustaje nesto mnogo. Em se razbija od pare em igra ceo dan. MMORPG-ovi stvarno mogu da budu zlo al ko sto on kaze kad vec mora da se navuce bolje na WOW nego na drogu.
 
Ali zašto uvek koristiš te ekstremne primere kada trebaš da izneseš argument protiv nečega? Kao, lik koji WoW igra 17 sati, ili Guitar Hero koji po definiciji mora biti loš jer je ismejan u South Parku - što čak nije ni tačno, jer je i tamo samo ismejano ekstremno preterivanje u tome i takmičenja, dok je čak pohvalno okarakterisano umereno uživanje u istom sa društvom.

Šta misliš, koliko su igrali oni likovi koji su Quake prelazili za 4 minuta, Morrowind za 15 minuta, Half Life za 45 minuta? Ili oni sa visokim rankovima na Battle.Netu u WC3 ili Starcraftu? Ili oni koji drže Falloute u malom prstu? Sada trebamo da kažemo da smo prosto užasnuti i sl. i da to govori nešto (bilo šta) o tim igrama, odnosno o njihovom (ne)kvalitetu?
