Codemasters have announced the release date for F1 2011, the follow-up to the award-winning F1 2010. The game is currently in development at Codemasters’s Birmingham base.
Codemasters latest F1 offering will race into stores on the 23rd September this year, and is already available for pre-order, for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation and PC.
Handheld editions of the game are also in production for Nintendo 3DS and Sony’s next generation portable entertainment system the, NGP. However, specific release dates for the handheld editions are yet to be announced.
“In F1 2011 players will be challenged to ‘Be the driver, live the life, go compete’, with wide-ranging technical and gameplay advancements on and off track and vastly extended competitive and co-operative multiplayer components,” Codemasters said.
F1 2011 will feature all of the official teams; drivers and circuits from the 2011 Formula One season, as well as include the brand new Indian grand prix at Delhi’s Jaypee International Race Circuit, plus the return of the iconic Nürburgring to the calendar.
To mark the announcement of the F1 2011 game, Codemasters have also launched a competition offering gamers the chance to be amongst the first in the world to play F1 2011 ahead of its release and star in future Development Diary videos.
To enter the competition, fans are being invited to ask a question about the game on a video uploaded to YouTube. Codemasters will then pick the most interesting and creative video entries, and invite their winners to Codemasters Birmingham to go hands on with the game, meet the team and ask their questions face-to-face in May.
