If you receive the "Invalid update control CTF file" message during AVG update, most probably the update control files are corrupted. In this case it is necessary to delete these files. During a next attempt to update AVG, new control files should be downloaded and update process should be completed without any difficulties. Please kindly follow these steps to delete mentioned control files:

* Download the utility from the link below to your hard drive
deleteupdatefiles.exe
* Run the downloaded utility (command line window will appear for a short time)
* Try to update the AVG program

If the issue persists, then please follow steps below:

* Double-click the My computer icon on your desktop (or open Start -> My Computer)
* Navigate to the following folder:
o Windows XP / 2000:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\avg8\update\download *
o Windows Vista:
C:\ProgramData\avg8\update\download *
* Find the avginfoavi.ctf and avginfowin.ctf files and delete them
* Restart your computer

Sa starijim verzijama postoji trik da udjes u podesavanja i ispraznis "update" kes. Posle toga radi normalno.

Sa starijim verzijama postoji trik da udjes u podesavanja i ispraznis "update" kes. Posle toga radi normalno.

To je jedan od razloga zasto sam sa AVG 8-ce presao na Aviru.Jednostavno su te sitne opcije skinuli sa 7.5 koja je bila stvarno dobra.Kao da su uradili downgrade, a ne upgrade.

Inace, ja sam rucno stalno brisao ove fajlove(recimo logovi su posle kratkog vremena umeli zestoko da narastu) pa tako da jedno kratko vreme koliko sam koristio avg 8 nisam imao nikakvih problema sa updateovima.A koliko sam video ccleaner ima i podrsku za avg 8 pa msilim da bi i on mogao da sluzi kao brisanje ovih update fajlova.
