MAC adresa fizicki sacuvana u samom mreznom uredjaju se ne moze promeniti. Jedinstvena je u svetu za svaki mrezni uredjaj. Pocetni deo MAC adrese sadrzi sifru proizvodjaca, a ostatak proizvodjac koristi da bi jedinstveno identifikovao svoj uredjaj. Medjutim moze se pokusati promeniti sta da operativni sistem prijavljuje kao MAC adresu.
