Posle izbora 🙂
Here is the complete list of common problems, known issues, and owner complaints reported for the BMW i4 M50, numbered for your convenience:
Software & Electrical Glitches
1. OTA Update Failures: Over-the-air updates can occasionally freeze or brick the car, requiring a dealership visit to replace locked-out control modules.
2. CarPlay & Android Auto Dropouts: Wireless phone integration frequently drops connection, lags, or displays delayed track information.
3. iDrive Screen Freezes: The central curved display can randomly freeze or go black, requiring a manual system reboot.
4. False Alarm Triggers: The factory anti-theft alarm system is known to trigger randomly without any external disturbance.
5. Sensor Errors: Parking sensors and driver-assist cameras can throw temporary error codes, especially in rainy or dirty conditions.
6. Liftgate Module Glitches: The power tailgate/liftgate can randomly refuse to open or close via the key fob or foot sensor.
Charging & Thermal Management
7. Stuck Charging Port Doors: The physical locking latch mechanism for the charging flap frequently fails, leaving the door stuck open or closed.
8. Faulty Combined Charging Unit (CCU): Early models suffered from CCU failures that completely prevented the car from accepting a charge.
9. Wireless Charger Overheating: The built-in wireless charging pad gets exceptionally hot, causing smartphones to thermal throttle or shut down.
10. Loud Thermal Management: The battery cooling fans can run extremely loudly and continuously during fast charging or hot weather.
11. AC Expansion Valve Failures: Defective climate control and battery cooling expansion valves have required replacement to fix cooling loss.
Drivability, Range & Brake Feel
12. Inconsistent Brake Transition: The handoff between regenerative braking and mechanical friction braking can feel grabby, jerky, and difficult to modulate smoothly.
13. Excessive Curb Weight: Weighing over 2,200 kg (nearly 5,000 lbs), the car lacks the nimble handling dynamics of a traditional, lighter gas-powered M car.
14. Severe Winter Range Drop: Cold weather can reduce the real-world driving range by 20% to 30% due to battery cabin heating demands.
15. High-Speed Inefficiency: Driving at highway speeds (130+ km/h) drains the battery rapidly, often pushing consumption above 30 kWh/100 km.
Hardware Wear & Manufacturing Recalls
16. Rapid Tire Wear: The combination of heavy weight and massive instant torque causes the rear tires to wear out exceptionally fast, sometimes in under 15,000 km.
17. High-Voltage Battery Fire Recalls: Select 2022–2023 models were recalled due to internal battery cell defects that posed a short-circuit and fire risk.
18. Chassis Beam Cracks: Certain 2024 models faced a recall for potential structural cracks in the left-side longitudinal chassis beam.
19. Drive Shaft Seal Leaks: Reports of fluid weeping or leaking from the front or rear drive unit output shaft seals.
20. Rear Air Suspension Sag: The rear air springs have been noted to leak or fail prematurely on early production units, causing the rear end to sag.
