Seagate 7200.12 1 TB Hard Drive Review

Conclusion

First, I would like to congratulate Seagate on continuing their innovation in the consumer mechanical hard drive space by pushing the areal density to 500 GB per platter. Second, I’m very pleased to inform that the WD 6400AAKS that has ruled the heart of so many enthusiasts including me in the forums around the internet, has been dethroned by a worthy successor.

Seagate’s 7200.12 generation of hard drives can safely say that they are faster than Western Digital’s hard drives with 320 GB (areal density) platters. In our testing, Seagate led throughout the synthetic benchmarks offering performance gains of nearly 10 MB/s in most cases over the WD 6400AAKS. The gain in synthetic performance then translated over to our real world testing which included copying a 7 GB Crysis game folder with 1594 files of various sizes, which resulted in a 28 second performance advantage for Seagate over the Western Digital’s 6400AAKS.

1 TB drives are selling for less than $100 these days. As such, these drives present a tremendous amount of value per gigabyte value. The drive tested in this review is selling for $89.99 currently at Newegg. This represents a cost per gigabyte of 0.088 cents. The drive is often on sale on Newegg, which allowed me to pick it up for $73.99 on a Shell Shocker deal. You shouldn’t have second thoughts about choosing another drive over this one given the performance of this drive if you are in the market for a new drive.

Pros

* Cost per gigabyte – 0.88 cents ($89.99 on Newegg at the time of writing)
* Access to 1 TB of storage for less than $100

Cons

* None because it is fast and the price is right

I would highly recommend this drive to anyone in the market for a 1 TB drive, therefore it gets ABT editor’s choice and a Recommended Award from me.

Немој погрешно да ме схватиш, тј. немам намеру да ниподаштавам твој труд да пронађеш опис дотичног диска и да то поделиш са заједницом, али тај опис касни добрих 6 месеци. По опису ми делује као да су одушевљено тек сад сазнали да су изашли дискови са плочама капацитета 500GB...

Елем, у том тесту који си линковао, поредили су SAMSUNG F1 1TB и SEAGATE 7200.12 1TB и овај потоњи је тек нешто бољи. А сад погледај овај пост и упореди колико је SAMSUNG F3 бржи од SAMSUNG F1...
