Windows application that makes it easy to manage access to your
system and all of its components. Using a family of easy-to-manage
Locks, businesses and individuals can effortlessly protect their
systems, folders, files, and Internet access against deliberate or
accidental misuse.
File Lock allows you to make files read-only, or to make them totally
unavailable. Whether the system is shut down gracefully, or turned
off abruptly, File Lock (and all of PC Security's Locks) will be
operational when the computer is turned on again. As with all of the
Locks, the PC Security administrator can use simple context (right-
click) menus to quickly and easily lock and unlock files. Folder Lock
lets you control access to entire folders and drives. You can
restrict access to them in a number of ways, including making them
read-only, locking them out, and hiding them.
Internet Lock provides various tools for controlling access to the
web. Access may be password-protected by program and by user, or the
entire Internet connection may be locked. You can even restrict
employees', students' and children's downloads by file extension.
System Lock will effectively disable the keyboard and mouse until the
proper password is entered. The Lock may be triggered by a hot key, a
right mouse click, the time-of-day, the length of time the computer
has been left unattended, or automatically at system startup. The
Restricted System Lock lets you define a group of programs that can
be run by each user, preventing them from running anything that is
not on their list. Ideal for computers that are housed in public
places, this Lock minimizes the damage from accidental or malicious
misuse of the computer.
Shortcut/Program Lock makes itself the exclusive user of one or more
programs, effectively keeping other users from running them. Window
Lock lets you control access to specific windows within programs,
granting users access to some functions, and denying them access to
others.
To discourage attempts at bypassing PC Security's Locks, the
program's Intruder Detection and Intruder Alarm will watch for a
specified number of wrong passwords, and take any number of pre-
programmed actions, including locking down the system even tighter.
Users of Tropical Software's companion security product "Stealth
Encryptor" can also have specified folders and files either encrypted
or shredded when an intruder is detected.
PC Security is ideal for schools, nonprofits, and businesses whose
computer can be compromised by careless or unscrupulous customers or
employees, as well as parents who need to restrict their children's
access.
