problem sa adsl modemom

ljudi pomagajte ako boga znate!
imam u kaficju u kom radim sezampro adsl...onaj njihov skrnavi noname usb modem.
sad hocjemo da predjemo na ubuntu i poshto nikako ne mozemo da nateramo taj usb modem da radi pod istom, kupili smo za 500 dinkicj (ok, koliko para toliko muzike, to se ispostavilo) adsl modem koji ide na mreznu...opet neki noname krsh...tj T-Com teledat 302. Sad imamo problem, jer NIKAKO ne mozemo da mu pristupimo da ga konfigurishemo za sezampro...tj ne znamo mu osnovnu ip...googlovali smo 3 sata, i sve probali...

ima li neko ideju kako da reshimo ovo?
sem kupovinom nove i bolje sprave?!? :)

Naravno stavljao si i mreznu karticu sa kompa u isti taj opseg(iste opsege)?

da li je mogucje da nema ip? tj da radi sve to radi preko softvera? znachi da t-com ima neki svoj program preko koga konfigurishem, kao shto sam do sada konfigurisao usb modem?

new user, new question ...

I have moved into a flat in Munich for 2 months only and am trying to get DSL working. My landlord has a Teledat 302 modem installed which flashes its little lights when you turn it on and then settles down with the link-level light on - so it looks like it has a connection to the exchange all OK. The T-DSL light is green?

Unfortunately, I do not have software or documentation, so I do not know how to talk to the Teledat 302.

Apparently (from a post elsewhere) it is only a modem, but it has a LAN port so it "should" have a default IP address ? Perhaps not - I can't find it at the moment.
Yes it is only a modem, you hook the LAN port to your computers NEtwork port. A DSL Modem does not have an IP address

Anyone know how I should configure it ? I have applied for and am being sent (hoffentlich) a T-online flatrate account and its associated bumpf, but mein deutsch ist nicht so gut and my attempts to get through to a techie at DT are frustrating due to my own lack of communication skills auf Deutsch. As i said you cant talk to a modem or configure it, you need either t-online software on your computer(not good) or a DSL Modem/router or a DSL router ((cheapest variation)between the Modem and computer) instead of the Teledat 302

What are my options ? Can I go out and buy a Dlink or 3com box to replace the 302 and provide better firewall/routing/WLAN functionality or is this asking for trouble ? Are there any parameters I would need to set on such a box for correct working with the xchange ? this is what i would do get a DSL Modem/Router. Built in firewall, routing all in. Yes you have to set up a router with your logon info that you will no doubt get from t-online. It is not hard. If you get a DSL Modem/Router or DSL Router PM me the model and i will look it up for you

If I do that, will the new box work in England with BTs network (reconfigured maybe) or simply not due to differences in DSL standards ? not sure on that one sorry

Any straightforward explanation of what I have in the Teledat 302 and what I need to get connected will be gratefully received.
