FreeWheel statistika: 80% videa se gleda na iPhone/iPod/iPad-u

The New York Times is reporting on a FreeWheel study that says the majority of video views that happen on a mobile device occur on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The iPhone and iPod touch account for a 30 percent share each, while the iPad accounts for a 20 percent share. About 19 percent of video views happen on an Android device with the remaining 1 percent happening on all other mobile devices.

Ever since Apple unveiled the original iPhone without Adobe Flash support, its competitors have been shouting that users were missing the "full internet." There were also plenty of people that said lack of Flash support would doom the iPhone since most mobile videos were in the Flash format. We now know, of course, that lack of Flash doesn't hinder video viewing on the iPhone in the slightest. Most videos on most major websites are encoded in multiple formats now -- all perhaps thanks to the iPhone not supporting Flash.

Matter of fact, FreeWheel asserts that Apple's dominance in mobile video views is due to the fact that its devices top the priorities of video publishers and mobile developers who encode and develop for Apple's iOS gear first and Android and other devices only after they have stable iOS offerings.

FreeWheel’s report seems on a subset of all video data. From the report’s fine print (literally): “The data here represents only video that is rights-managed: aggregate monetization data for professional content from FreeWheel’s customers, and does not reflect trends for user-generated content.”

Mr. Crowley is correct, and we include that distinction up front in the overview as well. This is aggregated data across our customers’ video advertising efforts (www.freewheel.tv/clients), and those customers represent professional content owners and distributors (ESPN, Turner, VEVO, etc.). This does not reflect the monetization of user-generated content (UGC).

To answer modelmotion’s question – this includes worldwide viewership, though the majority of the data is U.S. based, as are most of our customers.

To answer Mr. Nordquist’s question – much as we would love for Netflix to be a customer, they are not (yet). So, this does not include their mobile video view volume.

This is crazy. The store opened at 7am today. After 3 hours, people are stopped for queuing up and a piece of notice was being put up on the front doors, saying “Temporarily closed”. No one could enter and there’s only a few customers walking out with 20-30 boxes of iPhone 4. These “customers” then lurked outside the store ready to pounce on any passers-by who is checking out for iPhone 4. “Want to buy an iPhone 4?” they say. “We have a lot. Come with us.”

According to sources, the real customers and the iPhone 4 scalpers had a fight in the Apple store. A gang of scalpers were cutting the queue and some customers were fed up with the scalpers for buying large quantities of iPhone 4 and resell them outside the store.

anroid je prodavaniji od iphona ... Sto naranvo ne znaci da je bolji, aLi jedina je ta bitna cifra, a ne sta je prodavanije u nekoj drzavi ili sa cega je vise puta pristupljeno facebooku i slicno...

eto, tako to ide, izneses neke cinjenice bez namere da ''ponizis i uvredis'' apple vlasnike preponosne i onda se forum pretvori u njakanje.

ok ljudi, svako od nas ima neke svoje favorite, batalite vise prepucavanja, to sto je driveru, priestu iliji itd apple kraj svemira mene ne pogadja ali ne treba ni da nabijaju ljudima na nos kako bi imali apple da imaju vise kesa, kako ti procenti prodaje nemaju veze sa mozgom jer je apple/mac epski bolji.. nije ni cudo sto je sve ovo doslo do south park-a.

Uuuu, brate, ovi Kinezi gori nego Filipinci, osim ako nije neka posebna ponuda ili im se standard mnooogo popravio. A možda je i normalno da je takva gužva na Kineskim ulicama, ipak tu živi preko milijardu ljudi, jelte. :d

Da pojasnim ovo pominjanje Filipinaca za one sa jeftinijim ulaznicama pozadi, ovde iPhone 4 uglavnom nose siromašni filipinski imigranti, lože se na to, šta ćeš. Sa suludom cenom i krajnje nepovoljnim ugovorom, niko normalan to neće da kupi, kada se sabere cena u prodavnici i razlika u ugovorima ispada da iPhone 4 košta skoro 1000 evra. Pa još dodaj na to da si vezan ugovorom dve godine i da će ti telefon izgubiti preko pola cene kada izađe sledeći iPhone. Neki su se nadali da će pasti cena kada iPhone ponude i druge mreže, ali trt, na kraju ništa od toga.
