During CeBIT 2003 from March 12th to 19th , FIC will announce their Radeon 9800 and Radeon 9800 Pro series with A98 and A98P respectively. Both A98 and A98P feature eight pixel pipes, 400Mhz RAMDAC, 256-Bit memory interface and also AGP 8X interface. A98 will have a core frequency of 325Mhz and support 128MB of DDR SDRAM at 310Mhz. A98P will have a core frequency of 400Mhz and a memory frequency of 460Mhz and equipped with 256MB of DDR SDRAM.
It seems like Radeon 9800 Pro will have GDDR-II interface with a high memory frequency at 460Mhz possibly using 2.2ns GDDR-II since the fastest 2.5ns GDDR-I tops out at 400Mhz and it is extremely difficult to even overclock the GDDR-I above 400Mhz. This may be very possible since ATi has plans for GDDR-II in the near future and may just bring forward the whole schedule. ATi has probably realized that the performance scales up very nicely as the memory clock improves especially on 3DMark2003. If this is true, NVIDIA GeForce FX will have a tougher time fighting Radeon 9800 Pro and NV35 may have to come earlier to stop that.
