Loš Photoshop, a ako i budu pravili nešto slično, deluje mi logičnije da će praviti neki MCM.
 
Zar nije bila neka prica da ce ATi praviti nativni dual core GPU?

Concept -> 1 master chip and up to 4 slave chips.

The master chip is like a normal GPU... but with 4 SidePorts.
These SidePorts use the Rambus FlexIO Interface:
· Rambus FlexIO is capable of running from 400 MHz to 8 GHz.
· Contains only 12 lanes (5 lanes are inbound, 7 outbound)
· Theoretical peak I/O bandwidth of 76.8 GB @ 8 GHz (44.8GB out, 32GB in)
· Total bandwidth: 76.8GB/s x 5 SIMD Core (1 internal + 4 "slave chips") = 384GB/s

Q. Why use Rambus FlexIO Interface ?
A. Because AMD can use it (Rambus Signs Patent License Agreement with AMD) and because it's realy fast :

A slave chip, or SIMD Core, is made of 8 blocs, for a total of 640 SP (128 SP 4D+1) and 16 TMUs -> picture

HD 5450 -> 640 SP + 16 TMUs (1 master chip)
HD 5650 -> 1280 SP + 32 TMUs (1 master chip + 1 slave)
HD 5670 -> 1920 SP + 48 TMUs (1 master chip + 2 slaves)
HD 5850 -> 2560 SP + 64 TMUs (1 master chip + 3 slaves)
HD 5870 -> 3200 SP + 80 TMUs (1 master chip + 4 slaves)

Good!:

· Need only 2 chips (master/slave) to create a complete series of graphic cards.
· The slave chip is an exact copy of the "SP/TMUs" part of the master chip.
So when you create the master chip, you also create 95% of the slave chip.
· Less time/money needed to create a new series -> 9 month product cycle instead of 12 months.
· Very small chips -> very good yields -> very good price.
· Shared memory architecture !

Bad!:

· The highest memory bandwidth hogs are the ROPs and the Level 2 texture caches, so ATI has physically placed these units next to the memory controllers and used a thousand or so traces to connect them. So, for now, it's impossible to put the RBEs inside the slave chips. Thus, the master chip has to contain enough RBEs for the HD 5870... but this high number of RBEs will be overkill for the HD 54xx/56xx. This is perhaps the major problem with this design.

ATI HD5870x4 details leaked?

"Actually, it doesnt sound optimistic enough to me. If the die size of 205mm² is true, ATI could sell these things for really cheap. The Radeon HD 4830, with its 256mm² die size and 256-bit memory interface, is already selling for less than $130 USD. Im thinking something more like this:

The quantity of stream processors on RV870 chip can grow up to 1000 pieces. Their resulting computational performance can reach 1,5 teraflops.

The memory capacity on RV870 video card can reach 150-160 Gbit/s. If we considers that Radeon HD 4870 with 256- bit bus and 3600 MHz DDR memory frequency ensures a capacity at the level of 115,2 Gbit/s, RV870 can raise the memory frequency to 4800 MHz DDR with constant memory bus. Qimonda company already released GDDR5 microcircuits working at frequencies up to 5000 MHz DDR .

The RV870 core area will decrease from 256 sq. mm, in RV770, to 205 sq. mm. This will allow to create the two-chip graphical solutions easily."

If you hear of more rumors, post here! This is exciting for those gaming at 1920x1080 or higher resolution and have the best overclocked core duo cpus. I wonder when they will have giant LCD monitors above 2560x1600? Otherwise the hd5870x4 is gonna be overkill!

Ova X4 zvuchi surovo, josh kad bi sredili drajvere pa da Crossfire moze da koristi tu snagu... Zivi bili pa videli.

ova ima da sahrani 4850 a sigurno će biti za iste ili malo manje para.

plus ova x4 bez nekog 8-jezgrenog procesora ne bi ni radila kako treba, i nekog super 4k(rezolucija) hd monitora.

ne verujem da neko ovo moze da shvati ozbiljno...
 
Slazem se . Ako bi ovo bilo istina Nvidia moze da pocne da se bavi proizvodnjom elektonike za luna parkove.
 
Ne vidim sto je nemoguce, pricali ste da je ATI pukao sa 2xxx serijom grafickih, pa vidite sta je na kraju ispalo na 4xxx

Xexexe... cudni su ljudi.. da li si video koliko su ozbiljno shvatili vest da je Apple izbacio laptop bez tastature.. ima samo onaj wheel kao na IPod-u.
 
@Monk: Sve je to u redu, ali ova ideja nema veze sa inzenjerskom logikom. Seti se samo Voodo karakondzula ;-)
