Sega and Obsidian are reteaming for this role-playing game that eschews sci-fi and fantasy for a Bourne Identity-like world of high-tech espionage.

Loyalty carries a price and no one knows this more than agent Michael Thorton. A talented young agent cast out by his government, Thorton is the only one with the information needed to stop an impending international catastrophe. To do so means he must cut himself off from the very people he is sworn to protect. As players determine how to accomplish different objectives, the decisions made and actions taken in each mission will ultimately transform the type of secret agent Michael Thorton will become. Every choice the player makes as Michael Thorton will carry consequences for his future and the fate of the world.

Internet posts quoting an upcoming issue of Game Informer magazine claim Alpha Protocol will be in third-person perspective; use a non-class-based skill system; and handle communication via a new "dialog stance system" that mixes elements of the Mass Effect dialog system with that of Indigo Prophecy.

So far, SEGA and Obsidian have been quiet on those details.

Ovo obećava, nadam se da su u obsidian-u spremni na jedan ozbiljan projekat, valjda ih je iskustvo sa KotOR 2 i NWN2 naučilo nešto , jer od Alpha Protocol-a i Alien-a očekujem mnogo, mnogo više.
 
grafika je katastrofa! Nesto sto treba da izadje pocetkom sledece godine sa grafikom iz fear-a ili hl2? Pa ne znam bas.... i da ZNAM da grafika ne cini jednu igru... :)

Ako ocekujete spijunsku igru sa Splinter Cell izvodjenjem i Born Identity pricom kao sto je najavljivano, grdno se varate. Kada sam video gameplay video u kome zgodna riba u Rambo fazonu sa "Cecom" u rukama rostilja njih dvadeset...:wall:

S obzirom u sta se pretvorio Splinter, mislim da ovo ne moze da razocara, mada nisu ni prevelika ocekivanja:p

Salu na stranu, ne vidim nacin na koji bi mogli da spijunazu implementiraju u rpg zanr i da pritom gameplay ostane solidan... Opet ce ovo biti sve, samo ne rpg...

btw, jel se meni cini ili je ovo i dalje samo nabudzena verzija electron engina iz NWN2?... Ako je tako, onda se treba setiti da im je trebalo 2. godine i oko 15 patcheva da ga koliko-toliko optimizuju za NWN2 i opet nije radio kako treba...

EDIT: Oficijalni release date za americko trziste je 6. oktobar.

Spying has proven solid yet often unfertile grounds for videogames to date - Bond's digital escapades have been built upon the more explosive aspects of a secret agent's day-to-day routine, leaving the navel gazing Solid Snake and Sam Fisher as the best proponents of the spying game. Alpha Protocol does the smart thing and guns for neither Splinter Cell nor Metal Gear Solid, instead furrowing its own path and creating an all-new spin on the art of espionage.

Do you opt for a suave, smooth talking spy who defuses situations with an arched eyebrow and a quick quip, or do you go for a brutal approach, shaping a thug who will happily brain anyone who dares ask what time of day it is. Basically, do you want to be Roger Moore or Daniel Craig? The decision, as they say, is yours.

Alpha Protocol follows the RPG template to a tee with its tight focus on character progression and customisation, although it makes several interesting detours. There's no open world as such, with missions instead doled out in a safehouse, a clinically clean dwelling whose every surface seems to be taken up by swathes of high-tech gadgetry. Here it's possible to fit hero Michael Thorton in a variety of outfits (and given the tongue-in-cheek humour we see in the demo, we expect some outlandish costumes to come into play).

There's a multitude of ways to approach the conversation - thankfully it's not a binary choice between naughty and nice, but for the purposes of our demonstration we're shown just two options. First off Thorton plays it nice, engaging in gentle banter via an intuitive system that will be familiar to anyone who's played through Mass Effect.

The action mission we see is set in a bombed out Embassy, and affords us a chance to see the combat mechanics at work. Truth told, it's an initially unimpressive set-up, with the mission playing out like a mesh of some of the more generic third-person shooters available, complete with cursory cover-based gunplay, mini-game interludes to hack into terminals and keypads, and all interspersed with a little light stealth.

Grafika mi deluje nekako isprano, a igra pomalo neozbiljno, ali ovo je samo moje misljenje.
 
LoL dotle mogu da umrem stvarno nisu normalni sta rade ,4 normalne igre su izasle ove godine mislim na 2009 za sta mi kupujemo graficke.:party:

Dosta igara izlazi krajem ove i pocetkom sledece godine.
Bolje je ovako, Obsidian je konacno dobio sansu da kreira potpuno novu igru, losa prodaja bi ih sahranila.

tacno tu je i borderlands... mozda i ne bude tako lose, i onako nemam vise vremena za sve sto izadje :)

US, February 24, 2010 - SEGA and Obsidian have sent word to IGN that Alpha Protocol, originally slated to come out in 2009, will be releasing in the first half of this year. Depending upon where you live, you'll have the chance to snag the upcoming RPG from the maker's of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 at different dates.

For North America, the release date has been nailed down as June 1. Europe will get it a few days earlier on May 28. Those in Australia will get it earlier still on May 27.

Here are the installation Alpha Protocol DRM security details for the upcoming Espionage RPG. We dont think they are any dfferent than the norm.

The only major requirement is an internet connection, and there are workarounds if you don't have a PC connected to the internet. Here's the official statement on what to expect:

The system chosen for Alpha Protocol is Uniloc: SoftAnchor. The system will allow the user to activate Alpha Protocol online immediately out of the box and once activated the user never needs to worry about activating again. The activation can be used on a limited amount of PCs, and can be deactivated through our online servers allowing the user full control over their license - should they need to re-install, swap machines or suffer a catastrophic hardware failure on their normal PC.

In the future, SEGA will be releasing an unprotected patch of the game to alleviate any fears of not being able to play the game when the Uniloc servers won't be around anymore.

We also do not use Steamworks - the Steam released version will use Uniloc DRM.

The PC version of Alpha Protocol uses an internet based licensing system. After installation, the user is required to enter a valid product registration code (license key) in order to begin playing the game. An internet connection is necessary to do this.

Your registration code, like the software and license that you purchased is your property. Please keep it in safe place and don't give it out to others.
We have endeavored to deploy a licensing system that is fair and does not inconvenience users. You can have the software installed on an unlimited number of computers and can actively use up to five installations at any one time. The software informs you if the installation you wish to use is not active and will guide you through the process of transferring licenses from those that are active with just a few mouse clicks.

Graphics -> 80 - The exteriors are not so bad but the models and their animations are far from perfect.
Sound -> 90 – Appropriate soundtrack.
Diversity -> 89 - Even though it’s the same game, there are many possibilities when it comes to customizing your character and deciding how to play.
Duration -> 90 - The replayability factor is really high. You can play Alpha Protocol a lot of times without experiencing the same adventure.
Overall -> 88 - A spy role playing game that succeeds in blending action with stealth and gives players a high degree of freedom in choosing how they want to proceed.
