An LG spokesman told me that the G6 actually uses Gorilla Glass 3 on the camera as well and that there is no Gorilla Glass 4 anywhere. This is in contrast to several other statements made to journalists at MWC and during an LG tour in South Korea before the trade show. When asked why LG would use such an old version of Gorilla Glass on the front, the response amounted to a polite way of saying it wasn’t deemed to be worth the additional cost. Which begs the question of why Gorilla Glass 5 was found to be worthwhile for the back of the phone but not the front. We’re seeking further clarification and will report back with any new information.
