DASH, ex Darkcoin [DRK] (X11)

Last week Dash activated ChainLocks and LLMQ-Based InstantSend, achieving the finality of transactions that blockchains have promised — in around 1 second. This means that when you send Dash, the recipient receives it in a second and can immediately spend it. The end recipient of any series of these transactions can accept payment without risk or uncertainty that the funds will settle successfully. Dash is now usable exactly as you would expect cash to operate, but within the convenience of the digital world.

One of the problems that any project based on Bitcoin suffers is the potential for 51% attacks. In its latest release, Dash has essentially solved the problem by relying more heavily on its Masternode network in addition to proof-of-working miners. The effect is that the entire network can now instantly confirm transactions.

Dash Core report suggests that the decline in median transaction values indicates that larger speculative trades are giving way to “more repetitive transactions, reminiscent of transactions that are used for everyday purchases.”

Additional data support this conclusion. Since January 2018, the number of active wallets increased from 5,000 to well over 30,000, while daily transaction volume now exceeds 20,000, an 86% increase from eighteen months ago.

Cobo Wallet is a multi-cryptocurrency wallet that provides a single wallet solution for proof-of-stake, proof-of-work, and masternode rewards. Cobo wallet “allow users to grow their digital assets through the original block rewards of blockchain”. Cobo wallet integrated Dash in April 2018 and shortly after enabled Dash users to combine their funds in order to run masternodes and receive a portion of the masternode’s rewards. At time of writing the services alleges to operatre 30 Dash masternodes.

The Dash (DASH) network is now more secure than Bitcoin (BTC), according to several executives of the core team. An upgraded consensus protocol and instant-by-default transactions are expected give Dash significant advantages in user experience and the network’s utility.

Known as LLMQ-based ChainLocks, the upgrade uses masternodes to ‘lock’ new blocks, thereby preventing network forks or double-spends. Each successful block becomes immutable as soon as it is broadcast, making its transactions irreversible.

The Millennium mall, located in western Venezuela, has integrated Dash payments into its parking structure to provide relief from the broken fiat currency processing systems currently in place, where customers are forced to wait in excess of 60 minutes in order to check out of the mall. Through a partnership with the Dash Cabimas group, over 500 users have been onboarded over the past few weeks with parking payments made in a matter of seconds with Dash, significantly cutting down on processing time. According to Julio Daza, general manager for the mall’s parking lot CarMillennium, Dash has proven to be the best option for parking payments:

On August 7th, there was roughly a million transactions of very small sizes and fees, which resulted in an investigation by Dash Core Group and subsequent updates to make the network more robust.
